And the Caddies’ Favorite is…
2024 was our sixth year of the new and improved Caddie Lounge experience and the reviews were all positive! Special thanks to Caddie Concierge, Ron Keener, for organizing and continuing dozens of new and renewed partnerships for the John Deere Classic to support the Caddies.
On July 6th, Butch Peiffer (left), Caddie Lounge Chair, Ron Keener (left center), Caddie Concierge, and Andrew Lehman (right), Tournament Director made the presentation of the 2024 Caddie “Most Valuable Sponsor” flag to Chef Dustin Del Grosso (center) and Chef Mandy Del Grosso (right center), both of Greek House Chefs.
The award is given each year to the company sponsor that has the most impact on the caddie tent. This husband-and-wife team from Greek House Chefs volunteered their time for the third year, expanding the morning chef prepared breakfast options to eggs any style and included making grab and go options daily for those caddies with limited morning time. Being the first ones in the tent most mornings, their help with many other aspects including food safety and ordering proved instrumental in making the caddie experience the best on tour.
The use of the pin flag is very symbolic. Caddies do not get all the hospitality and services that the players do when at many tournaments. They are never asked for autographs. The players are the stars. The players get the big fancy checks and receptions. However, the pin flag is very symbolic in that at the end of each tournament, the winning player’s caddie will return to the 18th hole and remove the pin flag as a memento of the week. Sure, they are compensated by the player for their efforts all week, but this is “their trophy” for the win. For the past six years at the John Deere Classic, we have asked them to sign a pin flag, and give us their feedback on what vendor had an impact on their life that week.
We appreciate all the sponsors and look forward to continuing these partnerships in the future!
