And the Caddies’ Favorite is…
2023 was our fifth year of the new and improved Caddie Lounge experience and the reviews were all positive! Special thanks to Caddie Concierge, Ron Keener, for organizing and continuing dozens of new and renewed partnerships for the John Deere Classic to support the Caddies.
On August 8th, Ashley Hansen (left), Assistant Tournament Director and Ron Keener (right), John Deere Classic Caddie Concierge’ made a presentation of the 2023 Caddie “Most Valuable Sponsor” flag to Jill Meyer, Market Development Manager, Casey Creger, PT, DPT, ATC/L, Regional Director for Athletico Physical Therapy. The award is given each year to the company sponsor that has the most impact on the caddie tent. Athletico Physical Therapy stepped up in their first year with a huge impact by offering physical therapy services for any caddie, free of charge, in the caddie tent during the tournament. In confirming with PGA Tour representatives, this kind of amenity has never been offered for just the caddies. The physical stress of carrying 50-70 pound golf bags, 18 holes plus, on varied weather conditions from extreme heat to rain and wind can wreak havoc on even the fittest of bodies. The three days this was offered was appreciated, and we look to expand on this amenity and other opportunities at the tournament.
The use of the pin flag is very symbolic. Caddies do not get all the hospitality and services that the players do when at many tournaments. They are never asked for autographs. The players are the stars. The players get the big fancy checks and receptions. However, the pin flag is very symbolic in that at the end of each tournament, the winning player’s caddie will return to the 18th hole and remove the pin flag as a memento of the week. Sure, they are compensated by the player for their efforts all week, but this is “their trophy” for the win. For the past five years at the John Deere Classic, we have asked them to sign a pin flag, and give us their feedback on what vendor had an impact on their life that week.
We appreciate all the sponsors and look forward to continuing these partnerships in the future!
