Iowa’s Schaake Receives Sponsor Exemption to 2015 John Deere Classic

Silvis, Illinois

The John Deere Classic has awarded a sponsor exemption to Iowa junior Carson Schaake to play in this week’s tournament at TPC Deere Run.

Schaake was co-medalist at the 2015 Big Ten Tournament, led the Hawkeyes to the NCAA Regionals and earned first-team All Big Ten honors.  The native of Omaha led his team with a stroke average of 71.17, and was Iowa’s top individual finisher in seven of the team’s 10 stroke-play tournaments.  He recorded a team-high four top 10 finishes and 18 rounds at or below par.

“The John Deere Classic is excited to award a sponsor exemption to Carson Schaake of the University of Iowa,” said John Deere Classic tournament director Clair Peterson.  “We are confident that by giving Carson an opportunity to play against the best players in the world he will benefit in ways that will help him realize his goal of playing on the PGA TOUR.”

Schaake’s exemption came after Patrick Rodgers – who had been designated for an exemption – qualified on his own and didn’t need a sponsor pass.
