Charity Spotlight: Sisters of Charity

Birdies #: 1150

Locations: 1100 Carmel Drive, Dubuque, IA

Mission: As Sisters of Charity of the Blessed Virgin Mary we are women who have been touched by God’s steadfast love. In response to that love we are moved to commit ourselves to a vowed life of faithfulness to the Lord; faithfulness to one another in community; faithfulness to God’s people, especially the poor. This covenant relationship is a freeing one enabling us to risk responding to the pressing needs of our times according to our gifts and in keeping with our BVM mission.

Impact on the community:

The Sisters of Charity of the Blessed Virgin Mary is a community of Catholic women religious who, in response to a personal call from God, have chosen a vowed life of prayer, ministry and community. In response to that call, BVM Sisters express their mission of being freed and helping others enjoy freedom in service to God’s people though their core values of freedom, education, charity and justice. We are committed to joining with others to work for justice and care for Earth.
