Bubba Watson went crazy low at Doral Friday, shooting a 10-under par 62 to take a one-shot lead over England's Justin Rose into the weekend at the WGC Cadillac Championship.
Watson, who once introduced his own line of benevolently priced golf shirts at the John Deere Classic, now wears fancier duds as he navigates the upper echelon of professional golf.

"This course doesn't even suit me," the free swinging left-hander told the recorders of his deeds after a round in which he and Rose were paired along with Elmhurst, Illinois' Mark Wilson.

"I like [courses] where you can just find the fairway real easy," Bubba explained. "Desert courses, you see desert and grass. It's easy for me to find [the fairway]. In my mind I have to be able to see it, because I'm everywhere [distracted]When you get out here, the grass and the fairways and greens and rough kind of look the sameIt's hard for me to picture shots because everything looks the same."
Despite his unique difficulties, Watson defied the second straight day of blustery conditions and now stands at 12-under for the tournament. Rose's 64 puts him a shot behind the Bagdad, Florida native and one ahead of Thursday's co-leader Adam Scott, who shot 68. Keegan Bradley, Charl Swartzel, and Charles Howell III were among those at 7-under or better.
Tied for 10th were Zach Johnson, Kyle Stanley, Bo Van Pelt, and former World No. 1 Luke Donald.
Day Two found John Deere Classic three-time defending champion Steve Stricker shooting 2-under 70, only one stroke worse than his opening day 69. Yet Stricker fell 10 spots on the leaderboard, where he finds himself tied for 15th with friend Tiger Woods, who authored a 5-under 67.
Woods was asked why Doral was playing relatively easy despite persistent gusty breezes. "The greens are soft," Woods said. "So even if a ball is in the rough, you can still hold a greenThey are just slower and softer this year." Intermittent rain has kept the course moist.
Howell, whose 67 got him to 7-under and into a tie for seventh, said what everyone really thinks: "You've still got to play a hell of a round of golf to shoot 62 and 64."
